“ We made our way downstairs. "“So I’ll see you Sunday?"” he said hopeful. “"Yeah."” I smiled. "“It was really great meeting you today, Jordan."” "“You too, Nick."” Suddenly he hugged me. Then he looked embarrassed. "“Well, see you around."” "“Yeah.”" “"Bye.”" “"Bye."” He walked down the path and towards his house. I closed the door and turned to see my dad walking towards me, or more like stumbling towards me. “"Your friend leave?"” “"Yeah, he had to go home.”" “"He?”" he asked, getting angry. I realized what I had done. It’s okay. I could make it work. I just had to take advantage of his current state. “"He?”" I said confused. “"I said she. That was my friend Nikki."” Close enough. "“Short for?"” "“Nicole, what else?”" “"I guess I misheard,"” he said, stumbling to his room. "“Oh thank God,"” I said to myself, letting out a sigh of relief. Then I ran to my room. -At the Jonas house – Joe was worried when he saw his mom home early. "“Hi Mommy, what you doing home?”" he asked, trying to stay cool. It was possible she wouldn’t notice Nicholas wasn’t there. “"What in the world were you boys thinking?"” Denise shouted. So much for that. "“Um what?"” playing innocent was next. That’s when Nick came out from behind his mom. “"Oh hi Nicholas."” “"Don’t try to play all innocent Joseph Adam Jonas!"” Oh no, full name. "“Well, I’m gonna get out of your way,"” Kevin said coolly, starting to walk away. "“Oh no you don’t, Paul Kevin Jonas."” Kevin stopped dead in his tracks. "“Um can I go?”" Nick asked, scared. "“Oh sure, sweetie,”" Denise said, turning to kiss him on the forehead. She turned around to see Joe and Kevin attempting to escape. “"Don’t you two even think about it.”" Nick ran to his room before it got ugly. From his room, he heard yelling. "“Anything could have happened!” Denise shouted. “He was out there without his phone, his keys, his wallet! He didn’t have any insulin on him either!”" It hurt Nick to hear her yelling about it. The diagnosis was still new, too new. He hated hearing it. "“You’re lucky nothing happened and you’re lucky he ran into a friend! He could have frozen to death out there!”" “"We threw him a hat,”" Joe said, sort of under his breath. Kevin elbowed him in the ribs. “"This isn’t a joke, Joseph! What if something happened?”" "“Okay, Mom, we’re sorry,"” Kevin said, trying to keep things calm. "“Don’t just apologize to me. Apologize to Nicholas."” “"Yes, ma'’am,”" they mumbled and shuffled up the stairs. They knocked on Nick’s door. “Oh hey guys.” "“We'’re sorry, Nicholas,”" they both mumbled. “"You know, it’s okay. Everything turned out all right, so no hard feelings."” He tried to close the door, but Kevin stuck his hand out to stop it. “"Why do you have that goofy smile on your face?”" he asked suspiciously. "“What? No reason."” “"You met a girl,"” Joe said. "“What? No!”" "“You kissed her."” "“No, she’s just a friend.”" "“Oh so there is a girl,"” Kevin teased. “"It’s nothing. She really is just a friend. She’s gonna swing by the church on Sunday."” “"You asked her to come to church for your first date?”" “"It’s not a date!”" Nick shouted. "“She’s been having a rough time lately.”" "“You like her,"” Joe teased. “"I might. I don’t know yet. She’s nice, but I’m not sure. She’s older than me.”" "“Oh an older woman,”" Joe teased. “"How much older?”" Kevin asked, lowering his eyebrows skeptically. “"A year at the most. She’s 14, but I didn’t get a birthday or anything."” "“You do like her,"” Kevin said, jumping on the bandwagon. “"I’m not sure yet. And I think what she needs right now is a friend."” “"Fine, but we’re watching you,"” Kevin said, pointing at Nick. Denise walked in. “"Everything okay in here?”" "“Yeah, fine,”" all 3 said, not wanting to elaborate. “"I just got off the phone with your father. Turns out he has to work on Friday evening, so we have an extra ticket for the Yankee game.”" "“Can I take a friend?"” Nick blurted out. --------------------not much of a cliffhanger or anything, but it won't let me post anymore. i promise more will happen REALLY soon. and just so you know there will be other girls later on, i just have to get some stuff with Jordan done first. please comment, rate, whatever, thank you to those of you who already have but i really wanna know what u guys are thinking!
