Mercedes-Benz now offer the three first diesel SUVs worldwide with AdBlue injection for exhaust fume treatment under the model designators R, ML and GL 320 BlueTec. The vehicles meet the American Bin 5 standard, as well as the future strict EU 6 emission standard. The V6 diesel engine offers 155 kW/ 211 hp with a torque of 540 Newton metres. The GL 320 BlueTEC, for instance, can be satisfied with 9.5 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres. It is thus the by far most economic full-sized SUV in the United States |

Funny why they don't address the question most people have about diesels. Why don't they show it going up a mountain pass at full throttle? (smoke?) How about showing a genuine cold start-up. I know they're getting much better, but why not show it? You're never going to sell any diesels in America by slowly putting around in manicured neighborhoods at slow speeds! If you can't PROVE it, why try to sell it? |
