At the hospital, Frankie finds Kelsey filling out the grievance report and asks her how she feels about it. Kelsey replies that every time she sees Jamie's name on it, she wants to rip it up. Frankie points out that Kelsey hasn't ripped it up. Kelsey asks how she can do that when it's the truth. Frankie says the other truth is that Kelsey cares about Jamie and doesn't want to lose him. Kelsey asks Frankie if it's worth it, and Frankie replies that she can't answer that for Kelsey. Kelsey says that she could lose Jamie, and he could lose his professional reputation, and she doesn't know if she can do that to either one of them. Frankie asks Kelsey if Kelsey is ready to say goodbye to Jamie if it comes to that. Kelsey replies that obviously she's not because she can't even sign the damn report. She cares so much about Jamie, and she doesn't understand why Jamie did this to her, to them. Frankie suggests that maybe Jamie felt backed into a corner, and Kelsey replies if that's so, then why didn't Jamie confide in her? None of this makes any sense. Frankie tells Kelsey that a while ago, she and Cass broke up because Cass did something that hurt her very badly. Kelsey says that Jamie told her about that. Frankie continues that when Cass left, it was the worst thing that ever happened to Frankie, but in a way, it was the start of them being able to repair what they had lost. Kelsey asks how long it took. Frankie says it took about a year. Kelsey asks how Frankie and Cass got through it. Frankie replies, "A lot of talking, a lot of forgiving, faith, lots of love." Then Frankie asks Kelsey if Kelsey is in love with Jamie. Kelsey says they've never actually said those words to each other, but when Frankie asks how Kelsey feels about Jamie, when Kelsey describes her feelings (thinking about Jamie all the time, seeing him in it when she thinks about tomorrow, among other things), Frankie says that sounds like love to her. Kelsey says it's probably just as well she and Jamie never said those words to each other, then, because it would hurt even more. Frankie realizes that something like this has happened to Kelsey before, and Kelsey tells Frankie about her college professor and mentor and what happened there. Frankie asks if Kelsey feels that Jamie betrayed her in the same way her college professor did. Kelsey says she feels like she walked into a trap, and wonders why she couldn't see the writing on the wall and why she couldn't save herself. Frankie asks if Kelsey is sure that Jamie lied to her about his decision. Kelsey says that Jamie swore to her he chose his assistant before they slept together, and that was weeks before he wrote the memo with Kelsey's name on it. Frankie suggests that maybe Jamie felt that he was protecting Kelsey. Kelsey says she doesn't need protection. All she wants is to be in control of her own life, and who does Jamie think he is to take that away from her? They tried so hard to keep everything private, but now the most intimate parts of Kelsey's life will be everyone's business. Frankie tells Kelsey that no one would blame her if she backs away from this. Kelsey retorts that half the hospital would blame her if she backed away from this; Frankie has no idea how many people come up to Kelsey to tell Kelsey to keep up the good work, and she's doing it for all of them. Frankie tells Kelsey she has to do this for herself. Kelsey keeps wondering if she's pressing charges now because she didn't when she was in college. Frankie says Kelsey could choose to look at it as being strong enough now to stand up for what she knows is right. Kelsey says the price of not being a victim could cost her the best relationship she's ever had. Kevin arrives then and greets Kelsey and Frankie. Frankie asks what Kevin is doing there, and Kevin says today is his annual physical. Kelsey tells Kevin that his lab results should be in and she'll check on that for him. She flags down a passing male doctor and asks him to pick up the lab results for her. He refuses, even though he's going right by the lab to pick up his own patient's test results from oncology. After the other doctor leaves, Frankie remarks that it looks like everyone in the hospital is taking sides. Kelsey says so far, everyone has taken a side except her. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
