Yh it was pretty shocking! Well I don't have a perfect answer but I'm sure it's along the lines of a new start in the FGW HST life, there is only 4 power cars with original nameplates in the fleet. My favourite name plate was 43034 'The Black Horse' although it was looking a little worse for wear at the end of it's life!
