Filmed on 24 August. 43166 and 43104 pass Nailsea and Backwell working the 9V57 09:33 Edinburgh Waverley- Penzance service clagging away with valenta engines which will soon become extremely rare in Britain. MTU'S are now being used on First Great Western, Natioanl Express East Coast and Cross Country (All power cars will have MTU's from December 2008). East Midlands Trains will have VP185 engines, but Grand Central will still continue to use Valenta's but for how long...?

You were right I did see them on the 08.30 Penzance to Dundee at Bristol it departed at 12.30.

Yes most definitely. The MTU's take a very long time to build speed.

I know some are going crazy about the MTU program and some are welcoming it. Although the MTU is sustaining the HST's Valenta's are quicker of the mark and can pic up speed alot easier!
